If you haven’t heard of Amy Dresser before, you have now. She’s been working in the industry for a very long time and has set the way through inspiration for other retouchers.
Recently, at Luminance (http://www.photoshelter.com/luminance/speakers), she was one of the speakers. She gave a good look into our field and the working relationship she has with photographers. She also shows us some of the before and after results they come to expect from her. It gives a good view into the client relationships on what they often expect from the original photograph. It’s granted that the results are based on her personal style, but it gives a great general deviation from the start. Although many situations that she also talks about are personal, many of them are quite relatable to us retouchers.
Amy is quite a casual person so her personality shows it, yet she is very friendly, approachable, and very entertaining.
This also goes to show how interesting and important retouchers are in the industry. We’re not just people in the shadows, but people who make a difference to photographs.
